I think naming their new van the “Pacifica” is banking on the fact that people have forgotten about these monstrosities.

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

One of the most unreliable cars in recent times.

Kinja'd!!!

And, Craigslist grammar (or lack thereof) makes its reappearance here. Sigh.

Those things are a joke. Junk inside and out

Apparently they’re from the same company that made my awesome Metris.

I just read a thread on Edmunds earlier today that was full of Pacifica owners with stories about how their cars had stalled, sending them into oncoming traffic, and DaimlerChrysler’s complete refusal to issue a recall. Scary stuff.

I thought the same exact thing.

It’s much worse than just bad memories. People in the US basically have no attention span at all, and the only ones who would remember how awful those things were are the few who brought them and enthusiasts who never would, no matter what the name plate’s been slapped on.

Chrysler should be knee capped for blighting the US with these things, but they won’t suffer for it unless the new pacifica is bad as well.

I lucked out. Had one for 3 years. Only issue was that the tailgate kept rusting through on the lower lip. “Fixed” twice, still rusting with new bubbles when I sold it.

230K miles though? Not too shabby for what it is.

What's funny is I still see a few of these locally. They're all ragged out and in not so respectable parts of town, but they're chugging along. God knows how many problems they have though.

Yes sadly, Americans don’t understand why smartphones are called smartphones.

Oddly enough, one of my sisters had one that her husband purchased for her. Shockingly, she had no issues with it during the 6-7 years of owning it. Lucky gal.

Hey! Mine still going strong at 120k miles. :)

Not the most fun car to drive but very comfortable for my kids. Drove my daughter’s bonneville the other day and it was all “Ah. Yes. This what it feels like to drive a car with pickup”

What I remember of these is that they had atrocious visibility. Like, really bad. Back in 2008 or so, I knew multiple people with them, and they’d always back into stuff. A lady on my street still has her 06 with hundreds of thousands of miles. Her car is the reason why I respect the Pacifica. However, bad move on Chrysler for ditching a 20+ year old nameplate.

Ya I’m completely baffled by the choice of nomenclature.

Yeah. I understand why they’re getting rid of the Town and Country name. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but I understand it. What i don’t understand. What I can’t understand. What makes no freaking sense at all, is why are they dredging up the Pacifica name? Why hang what is easily their most important new product with the name of an utterly forgettable, not well regarded, one generation and done SUV.

They weren’t any worse off than any other Chrysler product of its day. In fact, they fared better, from what I remember.

They had same neat features, with the NAV built into the cluster, and RCA hookups in the back and a platform for your gaming system in between the middle row buckets.

My father in law came close to buying one.

You don’t see a lot around anymore, because they didn’t sell that many. And those you do mostly suffer from 3rd or 4th owner 10-year old near-luxury car status. Worn down, not maintained, ghetto-ified, and looking like the one you posted up there.
